So why is it so confusing?

We were there once too. Navigating the countless shelves without a clue what ‘cotton percale’ meant or whether ‘bamboo cotton’ would be more comfortable.

We set out to upgrade our bed sheets, only to discover what we really needed was a serious upgrade in bed sheet knowledge.

First, there were all the different materials with dubious claims to try and make sense of.

Take Egyptian cotton. Sensually soft sheets, worthy of the finest Egyptian gods and goddesses. Sounds luxurious enough, right?

Not so.

In fact, it turns out up to 90% of Egyptian cotton is fake. That’s a whopping 16,000 tonnes or 2,600 elephants worth of fake cotton!

Then there’s determining the best thread-count.

1. Manufacturers know just how to manipulate this “magic” number.

2. It also turns out thread count isn’t so “magical” at all. When it comes to quality, it’s the thread, not thread-count, that really matters.

We’d cottoned on.

Thus, Cotton Collective was born.
